Peachbottom Creek

Goodbye, Jennifer

Jennifer Duncan, our fiddler, passed away on January 13, 2006 after a long illness.  Emily (daughter) and Doug (husband) said the following to all her very numerous friends:

We request that contributions, in lieu of flowers, be made to the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center for lung cancer research, checks to “University of Colorado Foundation,” Mail Stop 8111, PO Box 6511, Aurora, CO, 80045.  Please specify “Lung Cancer Research".  Another option is Swallow Hill Music Association, 71 East Yale, Denver, CO, 80210.

Jennifer’s family is very appreciative of the continuing support, positive energy and encouragement that you gave her and us throughout her cancer years.  Jennifer truly valued all of you.  She showed remarkable courage and determination to enjoy life and maintain her friendships.

Peachbottom Creek is . . .

Jennifer Duncan (fiddle)
Kate Lawrence (banjo)
Keith Akers (bass)
Frequently joined by . . .
Doug Rippey (guitar)

And here's a photo of the "real" Peach Bottom Creek, located a few miles outside of Independence, Virginia, in Grayson County:

The tune is spelled Peachbottom Creek, the geographical area has two words. Our band name emulates the tune name rather than the geographical area, though in reality the banjo tune by Wade Ward was named after the geographical area, so who knows what the real spelling is, or was?

We are located in the Denver, Colorado, U. S. A. area.
